Respiratory immunity

Our lungs, similarly to gut, are exposed to the outer environment, thus constantly needing to control for infections by potential pathogens. In this project, we study a particular rare and poorly understood cell type in the lungs called microfold cells, which possess important functions for mediating protective immunity within the organ. We study these cells in the context of respiratory infection as well as anti-tumor immunity.
